About LETC

Description
The purpose of the LETC Program, which began in March, 2008, was to prepare regional and school literacy consultants and early language and literacy specialists for their leadership role in districts and schools and early childhood centers in Ohio that have the greatest academic need. Emphasis for candidate acceptance into the program was also placed on even distribution across grade levels and regions throughout the state.
Literacy specialists started the program with the first of the online seminars which deepen knowledge of literacy content and pedagogy. After finishing the Comprehension Seminar, the candidates completed five online courses and a year-long, site-based internship that fulfilled the requirements for a Literacy Specialist Endorsement (LSE), a state credential added to a current teaching certification or license.
